Could An Elevated Sed Rate Be Caused By Drug Reaction/mixture Of Medicines?
Could an elevated sed rate be caused my a drug reaction or a mixture of meds? If so are there any that you know of? My sed rate was 70 while in the hospital for decreased level of consciousness and sinus and infection. I just had checked it and now it's back down to 17! Trying to figure out what happened! I was sick and in pain so I did take one 30mg Morpine tablet that day but I don't think that that did it. The morphine was perscribed for fibromylalgia but I didn't ever use it because it doesn't help and it makes me not feel good. That day I had a TERRIBLE head ache ? Due to a sinus infection??
I understand your concern. The sedimentation rate is increased when the immune system is activated, e.i in inflammation, infections and autoimmune diseases. A protein of the immune system causes the red blood cells to stick together and precipitate. The rate of this precipitation indicates the sed rate. The faster it is the higher the sed rate and the more active the immune system, the higher the inflammation or infection. You mention a sinus infection and myalgia, both perfectly good reasons for an increased sed rate. And yes, the sinus infection can cause a headache. I hope you are taking treatment for the sinusitis. If not, please see a doctor for a prescription of antibiotics. I hope this answers your question. Wishing you good health.
