Could Amoxicillin Cause Rashes In Mons Pubis And Legs?

Hi, I woke up with a rash from the top of my pubic mons all over my legs. I am not sexually active right now and I have also been taking an amoxicillin.. Could this be an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin or something else. The bumps are not that itchy and are not open sores. (almost look like hives)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for choosing HCM for your query.
I appreciate your concern for the safety profile of amoxicillin.

Yes, allergic rash is one of the most common side effects of amoxicillin or other related penicillins.
You may apply low dose corticosteroid cream over the affected area.
Tab Levocetrizine can also be effective.
Discontinue amoxicillin if you develop difficulty in breathing or if you develop swellings around the lips or the eyes.

Hope these suggestions could be of benefit to you.
Give your valuable feedback.
