Could A Mass In The Submandibular Gland Be Associated With Lymphoma?
I noticed a hard bean sized lump under my skin beneath my ear lobe at jaw line in May 2017. It wouldn’t go away so they did an ultrasound last year that said it was a 1.5 inch lymph node. It never went away and seemed to be getting larger, slowly. I decided to go back to Dr and they did another ultrasound two weeks ago that showed an oblong hypoechoic 5mm short axis mass on my subglandibular gland. I am seeing an ENT next week. Could this be lymphoma?
It can be lymph node in the submandibular or parotid region or it can be enlarged gland. So the best thing is to review with a head and neck cancer surgeon or an ent surgeon.
Get a FNAC of the gland done and get a biopsy done. Only after getting the results only we can comment on the type of the tissue.
Don't worry. If it comes out to be a tumor and if it is early in progression then it can be treatable. Sometimes stones in the gland can also present with gland swelling. So nothing to worry about. Do as I advised.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
