Could Over-the-counter Medicine Cause Frequent Urination?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...My son who is 15 has been taking over the counter cold medications for the past week for a cold and has noticed that he is urinating more frequently since. Can these medications cause this?

Certain drugs are known to be eliminated through the kidneys and to cause osmotic diuresis. These drugs can cause increase urination. However, it is not clear what drugs your son took, if he has associated pains on urination, fever, or abdominal pains or other symptoms, then it is likely that there is another problem like urinary tract infection that has to be ruled out.
