Cough, Sticky Phlegm, Pain, Broken Ribs. Source Of Pink Phlegm?

I pick up a cough this week. Its persistant tough to get control of and producing a very thick sticky form of phlem that is tinted pink with small fibers in it. It is also causing a lot of pain and some recovering broken and bruised ribs that
I got when some joker rear ended my car at 50 mph in september.
A-Where is the pink phlem coming from.
B-My energy level is very low. Will be seeing a doctor on the 25, unless you say sooner. What should I tell him?

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

If you smoke lungs cancer should be ruled out at first. Rib fracture causes breathing problems and can lead to lungs inflammation (as broken ribs disturbs lungs ventilation and lungs cleaning). If you have chronic cough also tuberculosis should be considered.
So the pink phlegm can appear due to lung cancer, lung inflammation, tuberculosis or because of through irritation due to coughing.

Your doctor should be informed about your symptoms and should perform physical examination. Chest X-ray is necessary. Please do not wait till 25 and visit your doctor earlier.
