My symptoms have been going on for about a year, the coughing with pain a month or 2. You can get your routine check up done regularly with a spiral CT scan of the chest as it has a very high sensitivity to pick up cancers at an early stage.
Your family history of cancer is too strong to deny any regular checks.
The pain right now can be very well beacuse of a cervical spondylysis where in a nerve gets trapped and hence these symptoms but a cancer of the upper chest on the right side can also cause the same problem by trapping a nerve in the tumor
