Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
compression fracture of the spinal vertebra usually do not spring back, but they heal in the same position. which usually does not cause any trouble to the patients and no pain after 6-8 weeks.
however sever compression can cause deformity and prolonged pain.

I expect that your injury is not severe and that why your doctor seems happy with your progress

I will suggest repeating x-ray standing views after six weeks from the date of injury

hope you get well soon

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. K. Naga Ravi Prasad's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

From the description, it seems that you have sustained a STABLE compression fracture of D12 vertebra and a hyperextension brace was advised accordingly. This is a standard method of treatment.

You have to wear the brace for a period of 2-3 months so as to protect your spinal column from unusual bending forces which will worsen the condition.

This is just to let you know that a brace will prevent further compression collapse of the vertebra and it will not aid in the correction of vertebral body shape.

Generally a stable compression fracture will not lead to any complications in future.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
