Child With Bump On Forehead From Impact. All Responses Seem Normal. Required To Consult A Doctor?
My son 3.5 yrs just hit his left side front forehead on the coffee table, big egg came up and a little blood but egg is going down, his pupils are acting fine and he's watching and responding to his tv show and no confusion, he's tired but this is his normal bedtime, should I call my doctor or just watch him through the night?
As you mentioned, that your son has hit his forehead with the coffee table and there is some swelling that came up which is going down and also he has been doing fine.
You can monitor for the below mentioned warning signs at home and if any of these develop can take him to the ER or your doctor immediately:
1. If he had lost his consciousness when he hit his head. 2. If he had any trouble with his memory. 3. Excessive or prolonged headache. 4. Vomiting. 5. Behavioral changes. 6. Excessive sleepiness or unable to wake up appropriately from sleep (if its sleep time). 7. Any abnormal movements of his hands or legs. 8. Any changes in his vision. 9. If the swelling beneath where he hit his forehead seems to be soft.
