Child Takes Normal Food But Farts A Lot. Claiming She Is Not Doing On Purpose. Treatment?

Hi, my daughter is 9, she eats a perfectly normal diet, yet farts an awful lot. I am a little worried for her
as I've never seen even adults fart this much. People even get really mad at her now and say she does in on purpose, but she claims she is not. Why or what is causing this. She is not proud of this fact either.

Usually, dear friend, expulsion of flatus is a normal event. Ingestion of foods like pulses, onions, garlic, cauliflower, cabbage, legumes and brinjals can increase gas formation inside the bowel. You might want to restrict the intake of those items. Other than that, she may be given an anti-flatulent medication like simethicone.

Hope this helps.
