Hi , My sisters been really sick .

First she was sick but she was fine . Then she started vomitting a lot , not too sure about diarhea though, She's only 5 and my mom admitted her to the hospital just today because it's been a while since she was vomitting , and she's really weak - doesn't want to eat - doesn't like to play anymore or socialize with kids + she's always sleeping . When she does wake up , she's vomitting and she has been losing tons of weight . PLEASE HELP ME . I want my sister to be okay ):

Pediatrician 's  Response
The most common cause of vomiting is acute gastritis alone or as a part of acute gastroenteritis. Most common cause of this syndrome is viral infections. The crux of treatment is rehydration and prevention of further dehydration.Your symptoms suggest it is moderate dehydration.
The fluid required for child of average weight for this age is 1400ml +900 ml per day.
and to add to it on going losses.so roughly 2.5 to 3 litres per day.
this fluid has to be given in small and frequent multiple aliquots.
The vomiting may reduce by medicines like granisetron/ondansetron/metoclopramide/domperidone as per weight.
