Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Child Having Fever After A Fall. Pain In The Neck, Back And Wrist. Is This A Strep Infection?
Is it possible for a child to have a low grade fever hours after falling down the stairs? My 4yo fell around 10am. Was fine. Ate a snack then later lunch before taking a nap. Around 6 had a low grade fever (99.6) and complained that wrist (only when touched but not swollen), back and neck were hurting. They also have had several cases of strep in his class the pass couple weeks.
It is not unusual for children to react in various ways to injury. Low grade fever may be there because of the injury. I suggest that you can wait for a day and in case the fever persists it shall be advised to consult your doctor.
Kindly monitor your son for signs of upper respiratory tract infection in view of the cases of strep in his class.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
