Child Having Bump On Neck, Feels Hard To Touch. Suggestion?

Helow doc, our six week old baby had a small bump on her right neck, when touch its hard and we dont know if its a muscle or not. WE only see the bump clearly if she turn her face to the left. We also notice that she turn her face to the left so much. But the baby is healthy and nothing interferes her breathing and feeding ..For now we observe that the bump will go more bigger or not. We dont examine yet the baby by a pediatrician ..Hoping for your answer doc,THANKS.

hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
from your explanation they seem to be lymphnodes.

If the same occurs in a older baby i am not really worried.
Large lymphnodes in older children may require treatment or investigations. Small ones in them may not require treatment.

But in the newborn period you may have to investigate them.... first of all we will have to confirm what they really are by a physical examination. So you are requested to take your kid to the doctor.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
