Child Having A Pink Mark On The Lip. Difficult To Eat Spicy Food. What Is It?

Hi, on left side of my 2.5 years old daughter's tongue has appeared a big pink mark. She has stopped eating anything which is spicy. In fact she finds it difficult to eat most of the solid food she enjoyed a month ago. She just drinks milk and takes some biscuits/bread. She does not let us examine it in more detail. Can u guide me the cause of this problem?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Your daughter is most likely to be suffering from Aphthous ulcer which can be painful and child will have difficulty in eating solids or spicy food.

You could get her examined by her doctor who might evaluate for the cause of this ulcer and might prescribe soothants and antiseptic mouth gel to reduce the pain. Also while it is healing give her sweet dishes or liquids which are easy to swallow.

Hope to have answered your query.
Take care
