Child Has Green Stools, Fussy Eater, Difficulty Weaning Off Breastfeeding

My son just turned 20 months today and for the past 2-3 days his stool has been a very light green to a light mustard yellow. He eats porridge and occasional snacks but won t eat fruit or yoghurt or anything I give him. He does drink juice that is mostly diluted with water. He s been very fussy as of late. What should I do? I m trying to wean him off breast feeding but it isn t easy.

HI

thanks for writing to healthcaremagic

breast feeding should be ideally continued till 2 years of age

It is quiet normal for children not to like certain foods during certain periods. some times there may be phases when they donot like any thing at all

so pl donot fight with them as this may result in feeding problems

green color of stool is not of much significance

try and start a wide variety of solid foods including fruits vegetables and cereals.

a child of this age must be eating from the family pot

hope this helps

take care

Pediatrician Dr. E Venkata Ramana's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Don't worry about the color of the stool if it is in normal consistency and no foul smelling.
After 1 year family food can be given and it should be made soft.
Try to use two spoon method, high chair with plank to increase his oral intake.
Weaning from breastfeeding to be started gradually and not in a hurry way.
Hope I have answered your query.
