Child Has Chest Congestion, Difficulty Swallowing, Choking. Okay To Nebulize With Duolin Repsules?

my son is 8 months old. He is suffering from chest congestion which is hampering his normal breathing . If we try to give him medicine in syrup form, he has difficulty in swallowing and results in choking. His cough does not come out or if he sneezes mucus does not come out. Is it ok if I nebulized him with Duolin repsules

good morning, first thing i would suggest u to have a look at the pattern of breathing- if the child has hurried breathing, labored breathing, chest retractions, wheeze during breathing , disturbed sleep due to breathing issues and fever , severe cough , i would suggest u to have a doctor to examine ur child first then take necessary action, for now to relieve his congestion , duolin respule is ok , but sooner kindly get a doctor to examine him , thank you.

Pediatrician Dr. Rajiv K Khandelwal's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

I understand your dilemma but would advise you to refrain from nebulizing wiht Duolin unless it had been earlier advised for him. It is better to consult a doctor to know the right course of management. What you are saying as chest congestion can only be transmitted sounds following a bad throat and hence my suggestion for a check up prior to self-medication.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son all the best..

Regards,

RKK
