Child Had Head Injury. Headache, Nose Bleed. Stitches Healing. Concerned

my 4 year old daughter hit her head a week ago and knocked herself out for a few seconds and required 7 stitches tot he bridge of her nose . she was observed in the emergency room for about 2 hours and we were out the door in 4, Since the injury she has been complaining of headaches , which I assumed was normal after the injury, but for the last 3 days she has been experiencing moderate nose bleeds as well. the stitches seem to be healing well and there are no other signs (she is not lethargic andhas no fever and seems to be acting normally with exception of some mood swings...) i am concerned bu dont think it warrants another trip to the ER but her docor has been closed for thanksgivig and im not sure if they are open before monday.

hello there,

i think you should take an urgent advice as nose bleed after few days of trauma may be problematic if ignored.
there seems to be some mucosal breech or a fracture of one of the bones of skull that mey be causing this bleed. furthermore this headache also needs eveluation though it may be due to the external injury only.

for proper evaluation it may need CT scan of skull to look for any breech and then corrective steps could be taken.

so better get an early evaluation.

thanks for your query
wish speedy recovery of your child
Regards

Hi

You must see the doctor again.
If your doctor is not available go to the ER.

Nose bleed in your child may indicate Fracture of nasal bone or skull bone fracture.
She might need x rays or CT scan if needed.
Does she drain water like stuff from the nose? If so it might be CSF indicating skull fracture.

Hope my answer helps you.
Wish a speedy recovery for your kid.
