Child. Broken Collar Bone. X-ray Showed Overlap With Bones. Suggested Leaving As It Is To Heal. Need Second Opinion

My son (9) broke his collar bone playing football, and has quite a bit of overlap with the bones when looking at the x-rays. We saw an orthopedic specialist today, and he is ok with leaving it as is and just letting it heal. I was shocked by that. I just think looking at the x-ray, there is no way that is can heal normally. How can they not set it, or align it and let it heal when it overlaps that much?? I can send the pic of the x-ray if needed. I think I should get a second option.

Hello,

Clavicle is the only horizontal bone in our body. The management of clavicular fracture is to apply a figure of 8 bandage at the shoulder and allow it to heal.
Usually it heals well. Malunion is very common in the healing process.
