Chest Pain While Breathing. Could It Be Due To Exposure To Mold?

I have been experiencing chest pain when I breathe. It is only in my upper chest. When I breathe deeply, I can feel it from my trachea to about four inches below my collar bone. This has been going on for three days. I do not smoke and I am a healthy person. I stayed in a hotel for a few days and I was staying there while I began experiencing these symptoms. There was some mold in some of the AC units in some of the rooms and a friend in another room experienced similar symptoms but not as bad. What can I do to take care of this?

Hello dear,

Chest pain can be caused by various reasons, including minor problem such as indigestion or stress, to serious medical emergencies such as a heart attack.
However, the history as mentioned in your post suggest towards infection/inflammation of the Respiratory tract.

Investigations like X ray chest will be needed to clinch the diagnosis.

Other causes of chest pain include:
1. Strained chest muscle due to overuse.
2. Chest muscle injury
3. Short-term, sudden anxiety with rapid breathing
4. Peptic ulcer disease
5. Pain from the digestive tract, such as esophageal reflux.

So, it will be better to consult a Doctor & get a physical examination done to rule out other causes.
So that proper management steps could be taken.

Let me know if I need to clarify further.
