Chances Of Surviving A Double Leg Amputation In A 73 Year Old?

Ok, what are the chances of a 73 year old man who has run marathons twice a year up until 2 years ago surviving a double leg amputation? He s in nyc and 2 days ago lost his right leg above the knee. He s having a stress test tomorrow and will either have stints put in his left leg or they will remove it. Bold clots and infection were the reason. We may be taking this guy in and giving him a place to live if he comes out ok. Just asking for an opinion.

If no surgical complication occurs then all it depends on the will-power of the patient. If he takes his good care health wise & mentally then he can live a long healthy & peaceful life. On the other hand if he goes into depression and there is no one to support him then his condition may become worse much earlier.
