Dear Doctor, My daughter (3 years old) has hearing problems since last few months. She is unable to respond when called from behind. We are not sure whether she had this since birth. On taking her to the Audiometry expert and ENT (we stay in Pune), lot of wax was foud in both the ears. I have following questions seeking answers: (i) Can wax lead to hearing disorders? (ii) Can wax lead to hearing loss? (iii) We have been advised BERA test. Is BERA test conclusive wherever it is conducted? I mean, are there centres in Mumbai or Pune where they do it best?
Hi , I have read your query. No , wax don't lead to hearing disorders. Yes wax can lead to hearing loss. Yes BERA test is conclusive. In Pune go to KEM Hospital for BERA test , they have good set up for small children . Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. Thanks.
