Can Vertigo Be A Side Effect Of Taking Amoxicillin?
I m 5 days into taking amoxicillin for an earache and had a vertigo episode 3 days ago. The vertigo passed after a day but I still feel light-headed and slightly dizzy at times. Could this be a side effect of the amoxicillin or a result of the vertigo?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are wondering if vertigo be a side effect of taking Amoxicillin. There can be many reasons for vertigo like diabetic condition , weakness , ear infection , meniere's disease or acoustic neuroma , but vertigo can also occur due to side effects of certain medicines like amoxicillin . I would suggest you to consult your doctor and discuss the condition with him/her . Doctor may alter the dose or prescribe substitute .If condition doesn't get well then consult ENT specialist . Doctor may order test like rotatory chair test , audiometery test , prong test , CT scan and examination with otoscope . Doctor may prescribe antiemetic drug , antibiotics along with anti inflammatory . For now take proper rest , do not bend forward and drink green tea with ginger thrice a day .

AMOXICILLIN normally does not cause vertigo. Your symptoms are due to the ear infection .. just continue with your medications. if it persists then meet your physician.
