Can Vasectomy Be Repeated Safely After A Failed First Attempt?

my husbands vasectomy failed last month, the doctor said it was a fail, and that he only got the right side. so he wanted us to reschedule to a hospital to finish the procedure. now they tell us the pathology report came back and what he cut out was not the Vas Deferns from his right side. a month later my husband is still trying to heal from where he was cut. they want us to go back on the end of this month to let him try again, should we? Is it safe for my husband or will he get further mutilated?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is safe to undergo the procedure again. It will not cause any mutilation. It is a rare error but does occur, when the surgeon cuts the wrong duct. But, in response to your answer, another surgery will not harm him.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
