Can Valtrix Turn The Fingers Into Blue?

I am taking Valtrix for shingles in my ear. I have taken six tablets. Today I noticed my little finger from the knuckle to the tip turning blue then reddish and getting darker. Is this a side effect of the meds. I can t get in touch with my Dr. on Sunday afternoon. I will not take anymore of the medicine. Also, I have a titanium implant in my ankle from surgery two years ago and have to avoid any type of bacteria. I had just finished an antibiotic for a UTI on Friday before starting the Valtrix last Monday. I don t feel anything unusual; however, do I need to seek medical attention for the finger. It is only on the little finger. Thank you, S Jenkins

hello there,
Valtrix sometimes is associated with increased bleeding tendencies. What it means is that you will tend to get bruised easily while on this drug. Your discolouration may just be some blood under the skin. If their is a lab nearby a CBC with a platelet count and bleeding and clotting times test can help us predict if there is anything serious. Also watch out for your stools/poop. If it is black tarry and tends to stick to the pot then you do need to consult your doctor.

Hope this helps, Please feel free to adress any further queries to me. I would be glad to help.
