Can Ureaplasma Urealyticum Be Passed To Children?

hi, My husband was diagnosed with ureaplasma urealyticum and we both started the treatment. My question is, can ureaplasma urealyticum be passed to our 4 year old son knowing that we all use the same toilet? My gynecologist says no but he doesn t give any details.I am very anxious. Thank you very much, Hajer Loussaief Fourati

Hi,

Not at all. Not to worry. Urea plasma is a very fragile organism. It can be viable only in human genitalia where the warm, moist and partial anaerobic conditions exist. It cannot be viable outside atmosphere. It cannot be transmitted through casual contact. Thus, nothing to worry. Your 4 year old son will be safe.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
