Can Type-two Diabetes Affect The Menstrual Cycle?

I am experiencing an unregular mensrual cycle for me. I am in general good health, but have been identified as a type two diabetic non-insulin dependant and am 40 years old. What has occured is the menstral fluid is not fluid. It appears like a brown mixture of water and flour but at a paste consistency. What may be the cause?
