Can Terminally Ill Patient Tend To Cut Human Contact?

I have a friend who is terminally ill with stage 4 leukemia. He recently told me to not contact him any longer because he thought I was stalking him. I've heard that people who are terminally ill can act like this. Was just writing to him in the positive and he just cut things off.

Hello, thank you for posting your query to us.

For any normal individual, the thought that they are soon going to die can be devastating! And every person has a different way of dealing with it. Shutting down from the world is one of the ways. A lot of people with terminal illness are so depressed and helpless that they don't know how to deal with it. Your friend is scared and needs you and his family at this stage, no matter what he says. Even if he's rude, you must be patient with him. Dont let him be by himself. It is even so depressing for him to see his near and dear ones in pain of loosing him .Try doing things for him that would keep him occupied and cheer him up( which may not happen instead he might get irriteted)...even if it is as small as playing his favorite music or talking about good old days spent together with him.console him by reminding that all of us sooner or later will be meeting again in OTHER WORLD as well He's fighting a loosing battle and has to fight it alone, but the least you or his family can do right now is be there with him and show him how much he means to you. Its a difficult time for everyone close to him, but try and make these last few days memorable and really happy for your friend.

All the best!
