Can Taking Topamax For Weight Loss Cause Rapid Heart Beat And Leg Pain?
Hi. My Dr put me on topamax 25mg 2x day for weight loss. I have been on it for 1 11\2 months and for the last 2 weeks I have been having rapid heart beating and my legs hurt, as if someone s squeezing my calf s. Sounds like side effects? I m not liking this. How do I wean myself off of this medication.

Rapid heart rate (infrequent) and squeezing of calf muscles (frequent) are the side effects of topamax.
Abrupt stopping of the drug is not recommended. You can reduce the dose to 25 mg for now and continue this dose for 2 weeks. Then you can stop the drug.
Reduce your weight by lifestyle modifications if possible and avoid taking drugs for it.
Talk to your doctor about this.
