Can Taking Coumadin Be Safe For Thyroid?

I have been pretty healthy until I had a fast trip to the hospital .Diagnosis congestive heart failure with a fib. Now This does not upset me--I m 88 for crying out loud! But while I m here I d like to feel decent.Dr. Has put me on Coumadin & is playing around with my low thyroid.I know the Coumadin is to stop blood clots, but it s made me have some bleeding OK,now though. But now my problem: I feel just generaly lousy &now have severe groin pain. Any thoughts about that? Thank you.

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

You are taking coumadin to prevent clotting of blood. It definitely increase the bleeding tendency. So you should check your INR regularly and keep it in between 2 to 3. Coumadin is safe with thyroid disease. But if you are taking drugs for thyroid then dosage need to be adjusted.

Check your T3, T4 and TSH level as well as PT with INR regularly and set the dosage accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer.
