Can Subchondral Bone Cysts In The Hips Be Treated?

I have had an mri of rt hip because I was in severe pain and was non weight bearing. The MRI showed mild subchondral degenerative cystic changes in the anterior acetabular roof. Also a tiny dysplastic osseous bump with the alpha angle measuring approximately 54 degrees. Is this correctable?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Aceclofenac and Ibuprofen for pain relief. If symptoms persist, you can go for surgical removal of the cyst. Consult an orthopedic and he will direct you accordingly.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
