Can Stress Cause Chest Pain?

Hello I have chest pains and my doctor ruled out heart attack or blockages in the arteries. However, my chest pain continues. Can this be caused by stress? Are there other causes for chest pain. The pain feels like someone is squeezing my heart. Thank you for y our help. Diane

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If EKG or echocardiography normal than cardiac causes has been ruled out.

Muscular strain pain, anxiety etc can lead chest pain as well.

In muscular strain pain, pain occurs in particular movement.

Costochondritis also can lead pain

Non steroid anti-inflammatory drug can be prescribed for that if needed

Take care

Hope this will help you

Consult physician for examination
