Can Stomach Cramps, Excessive Bloating And Loose Stools Be Indications Of Irritable Bowel Syndrome?
Hello, for the last 4 weeks I have been alternating between loose stools (3-4 times a day) to 3 days of being constipated. I've had blood work and stool tests done and will get the results in a few days. Could this be ibs? I have right sided stomach cramps, burning and excessive bloating and/or gas.

Hello Darren. Recent onset change in bowel habits will need evaluation. Await your blood and stool test reports. Do you have any alarm symptoms like blood in stools, weight loss or fever? Do you have a family history of colonic malignancy? If symptoms persist, kindly get abdominal imaging in form of USG/CT abdomen and pelvis and a colonoscopy done to rule out any colonic pathology. IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion
