Can Sluge In Gallbladder Come And Disappear For Short While?

My 24 year old son has achy feeling and pain near rib cage on right side mostly, his ultrasound last week showed slight sludge in gallbladder, howerver,2 days ago after excruciating pain in the ER he had another ultra sound with no sludge, he is getting nucleur gest tomorrow....2 questions, can sludge come and go as one day it showed on one ultra sound a week later it did not show and can this sludge make him feel achy but no fever?

I share your concerns about your son and his health. Yes, your doubt is correct and ultrasound report is also correct. Sludge in gall bladder comes and goes. If there is problem with the sphincter of the gall bladder, it will lead to accumulation. Once, it is filled beyond capacity, it empties.

Person feels pain when gall bladder is distended due to accumulation of sludge. Patient feels relaxed when gall bladder is emptied. Some times fever may not be there, as this sludge might not be infected. Only infected sludge will cause fever. Visit your gastroenterologist once nuclear scan report comes.
