Can Shingles Vaccination Be Taken When Allergic To Penicillin?

I am allergic to penicillin. Is the shingles shot contraindicated? I know if contains neomycin. Also, after flu vaccine should you wait to have shingles vaccine. Last question: how long do I have to wait to be in presence to someone affected by shingles after being vaccinated?

Hello,

Shingles vaccine may contain low doses of neomycin or kanamycin or gentamicin.

These drugs are aminoglycosides, not penicillins. If your allergic to the better to don't take the vaccination. Wait at least one year after shingles to get the vaccination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
