Can Sexual Intercourse Cause UTI And High Protein In Urine?

Hello I am a 53 year old healthy female,5'5. I recently became sexually active after 15 years. I lost 15 pounds in one month due to a viral infection, going from weighing 132 to 117. An exam showed I had a UTI that I took antibotics to clear up, but a blood test shows I have a high level of protein in my urine. I am schedule to see a kidney specialist within a few weeks. My question is did sexual intercourse cause the UTI, and high protein levels, and is it safe for me and my partner to continue to have sex.

Hello,

Yes, may cause UTI. I'd suggest you that don't go for sex till symptoms get relieved.

Drink a lot of fluids. Kindly do a urine analysis, culture sensitivity, AND complete blood count. You can take tablet oflox oz, syrup neeri. Keep private parts clean. Kindly follow with a detailed history and reports or consult with a urologist.
