Can Seizures Be A Life Long Effect Of Using A Drug?

I’m concerned that someone I know might have been a user of meth. Other than the obvious meth mouth, is there any other way I might be able to tell if they had used meth? They don’t use it now, but years ago possibly. Can seizures be a lifelong effect of using it heavily at one point in time?

Hi,

Heavy meth use can cause brain damage leading to seizures. But at the same time, seizures can be either idiopathic (without any known cause) or due to many other causes. I do not feel it is possible to say for sure in any given case that there would have been no seizures had one not abused drugs.

Best wishes.
