Itchy dry skin. I recently read an article indicating that prolonged showers to relieve itchy skin can actually exacerbate the situation further. I would appreciate a copy of that article to show my son who is experiencing itchy skin he has MS and depression and has recently started taking Pristique as a replacement for Serequol. He has two or three prolonged showers at night (10 - 20 minutes) which is no helping him or me water conservation wise of financially.
This is true. Prolonged showers do actually exacerbate the dry skin.
One needs to take shower two times a day maximum that too for 5-10 minutes.
For dry skin, One should apply lots of moisturizers over semi wet body post bath. It will help in reducing the dryness of skin and will make the skin supple and soft too.
Based on the available details, this is my best advice for you. You should discuss with your doctor and share my opinion , I am sure he/she will agree to my opinion. Good Luck.
