Can Pregnancy Happen Despite Having An Implanon Implant?

Hi. I used to get the depo shot for about 2 years and had my last one in March, when it ran out I got the implanon in early June, but I have recently started getting brown discharge and light cramps, is this normal? Is this going to turn into a normal period soon? I m concerned.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Chances of pregnancy is less than 1% when you are using birth control measures like depot preparations and implants.
You might be experiencing certain side effects following having implant as you have changed the mode of contraception.
However, these symptoms should eventually subside by about 3 months time.
In case it still continues to bother you, you need to review the mode of contraception with your Gynecologist and change it which would suit you.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
