Can Pregnancy Be Safe In A Person Suffering From COPD?

I am 43 and smoked for 29 years. I gave up 5 months ago, but diagnosed with COPD a few months later. Since then I have been eating healthy, swimming twice a week and cycling 5 miles a day. I have not used the ventolin inhaler prescribed for me as I have not been breathless. The shock two days ago is that I found out I am pregnant, we were not trying and my daughter is 20. I cannot find anything about COPD and pregnancy, but assume it is rare, is it safe for me to carry a child?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Madam, first of all thank you for consultation.it seems that you are leading a very healthy and active life.I hope COPD is not causing that much problem.in that case I would say it is safe for you to carry a child and continuing your pregnancy till full term.in case of any emergency during your pregnancy ,you should contact your GP and gynaecologist for proper ,real time treatment.otherwise there is no harm in continuing your pregnancy.my best wishes for your coming days.thank you.
