Can Pins And Needles In Hands Caused By Stomach Ulcers?

Hi, I had a stomach ulcer around 8 months ago and have continued to have discomfort/burning. Have been told its gerd / gastritis. I am also suffering from pins and needles in my hands, feet and upper back between shoulder blades, as well as increased hair loss. Could this be linked to the stomach issues? I don't drink alcohol or smoke & I am not overweight.

Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

No ; the pins and needles in your hands and feet are not related to your GERD/gastritis. This could be due to a cervical spondylitis, or due to some neuropathy in diabetic patients. If I were your doctor, I would go for routine blood tests including a blood sugar, a serum calcium and a plain x ray of cervical spine both AP and Lateral view. Further management would depend on the investigation reports.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.

Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
