Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Peripheral Vascular Disease Cause Shortness Of Breath?
I am a bodybuilder, and when I workout, during each set I get very short of breath quickly. But I have 2.collapsed veins, one in each arm. Both of my veins actually. Could this cause my.shortness.of breath, bad.blood circulation....or could something like high cholesterol (which Ive never had before but I want to go get it checked) be a more likely reason to get shortness or breath like this.
Problems with only two veins in the body are very unlikely to cause problems with shortness of breath. On the other hand, there may be an underlying condition that is affecting the arm veins and may also affect other blood vessels such as those in the heart and lungs.
To make sure if this is the case of not you will need to have a thorough check and possibly chest x-ray and other imaging examinations, and some blood tests.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
