Can Peg Tube Be Inserted Permanently To Get Nourishment?

I have a friend who had gastric bypass. Unfortunately there were compilations and she has had several surgeries and still no relief. She only has her pouch, she can not keep anything down. Therefore she is very malnourished. Can she have a PEG tube placed in for permanently intake? And if so...will she have to have TPN? What advise or guidance can you give for us when we go to talk to her doctors? They want her to go into hospital and have TPN delivered central or pic line. She is a single mother and does not want to on in to hospital for that long for treatment. Doctor will not allow her to come home to do the TPN therapy. She knows she will always have pain, but she needs to have a way to get nourishment? Can she have the peg tube permanently placed in to her pouch and have some normalcy to her life and her health?

No , PEG tube cannot be placed permanently.

Detailed answer:
I had gone through your question and understand your concern.
PEG tube can be placed for a while but not permanently as it has many side effects on its long terms use , like Cellulitis (infection of the skin) around the gastrostomy site , Hemorrhage , Gastric ulcer either at the site of the button or on the opposite wall of the stomach ("kissing ulcer") , Perforation of bowel (most commonly transverse colon) leading to peritonitis , Gastrocolic fistula.
Hence it is better to treat the basic cause for which we are using PEG tube and remove it after the recovery.
