Can Mycobacterium TB Cause A Miscarriage?

Hi my wife had conceived but a miscarriage happened after 8-9 weeks and d&c was done. Now in the tests she has tested negative for Mycobacterium TB through Real time PCR Method but is positive on Mycobacterium TB Complex. Could this be a reason for miscarriage and do we need a treatment before planning a baby again.

Hello,

I don't think it might be a direct relationship between two of them. In such conditions she should do preventative treatment for TB for six months. But please discuss with your doctor first.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
