Can Medication Given For High Blood Pressure Lead To Lightheadedness, Chills And Itchy Eyes?

I I am alwaya light headed, about an hour after I arise in the morning and also after I take my medications. I m on 4 different high blood pressure pills and feel I m over medicated. I have the chills all the time and use my heating pad to warm up my body. This is every day!!!! I can t seem to focus. I don t know what it is like to have a clear head. My eyes itch and water all the time. I have problems with my feet and ankles itching at night time and can t sleep. I m becoming depressed over all this discomfort. I m 85 and don t wish to spend the rest of my life in this state. Can you help me............Dorleen Poehtke

Dear Sir
Thanks for writing to HCM.
The first problem i.e. lightheadedness can very much be due to blood pressure medication. In fact at your age with 4 medicines to lower blood pressure, They are the first suspects for lightheadedness.
Watering and itchy eyes can occur due to any medication to which you are allergic. However it is not a common side effect of blood pressure lowering drugs.
Chills is really a non-specific complaint and again is not likely related to blood pressure lowering drugs.
You must see your internist for detailed evaluation.
Sincerely
Sukvinder
