Can Masturbation Cause The Piriformis Muscles To Be Inflamed?

Hi can masturbation cause the piriformis to be inflamed? Im not sure if this could be connected or not, but it seems to make the nerve hurt worse after. I know I ve been doing stretches and also when I m at work I work for a while and it seems to not hurt during or after but when I wake up the next day it feels like I ve been stabbed under my leg.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As a physician, I would like to tell you that masturbation directly does not have any direct effect on Piriformis muscle. You must have strained your muscle while doing some work or other activity. I would suggest you keep on doing the exercises and visit a MD Orthopedician if the pain does not go away even after one month.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Abhijeet
