First thing you cannot quit smoking gradually by reducing the number. It will never happen so. Ideally to quit smoking, you have to stop smoking abruptly without even a single smoke. Your willpower is the best medicine which will help you in quitting smoking. Also get a pulmonary function test done which will determine the lung age and also will tell you the amount of damage smoking has done for your lungs. Treatment needed if any also can be decided based on it.
