Can Long-term Excedrin Intake Result In Serious Stomach-related Problems?

I have been taking excedrin everyday for migraines for the past 12 years. I get bad heartburn and when my stomach is empty I have severe stomach pain. Filling my stomach with food makes it feel better. My question is could taking excedrin for so long caused serious stomach issues?

Hello,
Tab. excedrin contains acetaminophen and caffiene. Taking acetaminophen for long term may effect your liver health. In one day more than 2000- 4000 mg of acetaminophen is not recommended depending upon the condition.
Sometimes overdosage of this tablet may also cause nausea, vomitting, loss of appetite, pain in stomach, dark urine, extreme tiredness etc. symptom.
Long term use of this medicine may also lead to this kind of problems. If you are also using other medicines which have acetaminophen(cold, flu medicine may have acetaminophen), then chances of side effects also increases.
Sometimes due to this medicine hyperacidity occurs which also leads to these symptoms. May be that is why you are feeling better full stomach.
As you have been using this medicine from 12 years so it might cause stomach or liver issues. You can consult your physician who advise you the tablet and ask for clinical examination and also for liver function tests as they will reveal the health of liver.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer.
Thank you.
