Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... Does cheese cause constipation or does lactose intolerance cause constipation? I've been dealing with constipation for about 3 months ever since doing a low carb diet.. I've tried to figure out what is causing it.. I got anal fissures from it.. I'm on probiotics.. i"m taking a enzyme digestive pill.. I take ground flaxseed with my morning oatmeal.. I get a high fiber diet but my stools still tend to get dried out and be hard to pass.. they aren't small constipation nuggets.. they are large fiberfull bulky stools but still hard to pass.. Any answers are greatly appreciated.. i'm wondering if I"m dealing with food intolerances.. I was eating sprouted grain breads and I had worse issues then but I have stopped them now
Hi, yes if you have lactose intolerance, it can cause both diarrhea and constipation. Sometimes there can be atony of the rectum, the area where the stool collects before passing out. Because of this, stools remain there for a long time and become hard. You can try glycerine suppositories. They may help. Or show a surgeon for diagnosis of rectal atony--regards
