Can I Have A Normal Finger Nail After A Dog Bite?

About a year and half ago I was bitten by a dog. The bite broke the bone in the tip of my finger and required surgery to plan a pin through my finger which i had for approx. 12 weeks. Since then the finger nail on this finger will not grow back. It grows but with a split down the middle. What can I do? What type of doctor should I see? Can i have a normal fingernail again?

Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The recovery of the finger nail needs time.
This can take 2–3 months for a fingernail, and up to 9 months for a toenail.
You may consult a dermatologist for further evaluation.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
