Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can I Continue Clopidogrel Even After Treated Myocardial Infarction?
Following MI,treated with Clopidogrel +Aspirin...five years later developed gastrointestinal bleeding .Now recovered after hospitalization. Should the medication be restarted valuing its prophylactic benefits? Will there be more consequences if it is started once again?
hello, I have gone through your query. Thanks for using HCM. First of all i would like to know whether did you undergo Angioplasty with stent following MI ?If you did not have stent then you may continue with only aspirin.Restarting of clipidogrel also depends on what was the cause of GI bleeding. If it was due to ulcer ,you must wait till ulcer heals. If you had a drug eluting stent then you should restart as soon as possible, My best wishes Dr.Rajesh Teli,MD.
