Can Hernia Cause Delayed Periods?

i recently found out i have three hernias. i have a bulge on my right lower abdomen. my tubes are clamped and i have not missed or been late on a period since i had my youngest kid 2 yrs ago. i am active. is it possible if i am 7 days late that this bulge may not be a hernia? is it possible to be pregnant if my tubes are clamped? or can a hernia cause a late period?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Failure of tubal ligation or tying is not common so pregnancy is not likely.

Hernias are not known to cause a delay in periods.

Other than pregnancy, delayed periods can be caused by: (1) emotional stress or illness
(2) high prolactin hormone levels
(3)severe physical illness
(4) abnormal levels of thyroid hormone
(5)side effect of medication
(6)polycystic ovarian syndrome

Blood tests for prolactin and thyroid hormone as well as the reproductive hormones ( fsh,lh, testosterone), may be needed if the period continues to give problems.

Imaging may also be needed

I hope this helps
